Chapter 1-10: The God of Disaster

“Haraedo, what’s wrong?!”

“What’s happening?!”

Sungmin rushed over as he followed after Uta.

Haraedo’s breathing was labored as he seized the man’s belt with one hand.

“This guy…”

He held the man out in front of Uta.

“Huh? The one who stole the bag before?!”

It was the criminal who had dined and dashed and had also tried to steal.

He had probably been discovered by Haraedo and was then dragged all the way back here. The man was on his knees and looked up at Uta with a pale face.

“This is the guy who’s been harassing you, Uta.”

Haraedo took the torn-out circular cover from his kimono and flung it to the ground.

“Are you the one who posted the criticism against the store on that review site?”

“I dunno.”

When Uta asked him, the man averted his eyes.

Haraedo grabbed the man’s collar and pulled him close.

“Do you know how many people Izanagi kills in one day in the realm of the dead?”

Legend has it that Izanagi had vowed to kill a thousand people in one day, everyday, creating the concept of “death” in the world.

“If you lie, I’ll send you to that realm right away.”

“You’ll send me to the realm of the dead?”

The face of the man had been pale before, but in that moment it was dyed red with anger.

At the same time, the air around them started to tremble.

(Eh…?)

“…I’d like to see you try, if you can…”

It felt like his voice was echoing from deep inside the earth. As Uta stood there in shock, something jumped out of the man’s mouth.

“Uwaaaa! What the hell is that?!”

Sungmin screamed.

“He’s the god of disaster. He was born when Izanagi purified himself… I guess you can say that he’s like a brother to me.”

Haraedo replied as he readily took a stance. He was suddenly gripping a sword in his hand.

The being called “the god of disaster” looked like a black fog in the beginning, but then eventually took on the form of a shadowy person.

“Get back. If you touch him, you’ll be afflicted with misfortune.”

Uta and Sungmin obeyed Haraedo and backed off until the reached store’s walls.

Still, the store was somewhat narrow, so distancing themselves from the two was difficult.

“M-mana~ger!!!”

Sungmin clung to Uta with a crying face.

“Haraedo…”

“Don’t worry. I’ll cleanse it in one go!”

Haraedo swung his sword through the god of disaster’s head, which had transformed into that of a beast’s.

The two gods clashed, and as they did, it sounded like the crashing of thunder and caused flashes of lightning.

As Uta and Sungmin took cover behind the counter, he looked at the god he has been praying to.

Haraedo drew his sword.

“This isn’t a place you should be in!”

The fight between the gods only lasted for a moment.

Haraedo’s sword sliced through the black fog, and the fog dispersed with a rushing sound.

“…What happened?”

“It’s fine now.”

By the time he sheathed his sword, the black fog had already disappeared.

Uta could see the other man trembling and groveling on the floor.

“The unlucky thing left, but what are you going to do with him?”

Haraedo faced the man.

“From the start, this guy only got possessed by evil. But whenever he gets possessed, the evil gains an absurdly strong grip on him, so it’s troublesome.”

What could they do with this now timid man?

When Uta looked at him, the man suddenly began to speak rapidly.

“Wh-what? You’re the one who’s wrong! Even though you were not involved, you had to put on airs and stick your nose in my business!”

“Were you upset that I acted like a righteous hero and chased you all the way to the shrine?”

The man clicked his tongue at Uta’s question and answered.

“Yeah, that’s right!”

“Is that so?”

Uta approached the man and helped him up.

“For the time being, why don’t you sit down and drink some coffee? I won’t charge you.”

“…Hah?!”

It wasn’t the man who was startled by this decision, but Haraedo and Sungmin.
