Chapter 065 – Fufufu, Son. Everything Was For This Moment [A]

Rean’s Elysian Domination cut through the Vermillion Divine Knight, freeing it from the pillar it was embedded at.

Testa-Rossa, which was tied up, such that it was being suspended, dropped to its knees without any resistance—— and dark miasma oozed out from it as if it was bleeding.

Naturally, as Rean approached to cut down Testa-Rossa, he was exposed to the miasma through Valimar.

“What is this……?”

“Testa-Rossa defeated the Dark Dragon in the past, but upon its death, it was said that Testa-Rossa was cursed and sealed away in the Imperial Capital. In other words, this miasma must be part of that curse.”

“W-Will Valimar be okay after being covered with that?!”

While Rean was worried about Valimar, the Divine Knight itself exclaimed with nonchalance.

{“This much is not a problem. Or rather, I’m already used to being covered with it.”}

“Used to being covered with it?”

{“It’s the power of ogre. It’s similar to when you used to strengthen me. I can even say it’s almost the same thing.”}

“Wait a second, so that means the power of ogre is……”

[“It’s the same cursed power as the Dark Dragon.”]

Rean was left silent by Osbon’s casual words.

[“I guess that was too casual,”] said Osbon and was about to offer follow-up, but before it could, a change occurred in the miasma.

The flowing miasma eventually took shape as a solid object.

Sensing this movement, Rean quickly evacuated Valimar.

“What……?”

The smoky miasma rose higher than Valimar.

Eventually, it materialized as a gigantic dragon with jet-black scales.

[“Zoro-Agruga……”]

Rean shouted in response to Osbon’s mutter.

“No way! The Dark Dragon was supposed to have been destroyed……”

“It is destroyed. It was certainly destroyed by Emperor Hector and Vermillion 800 years ago. However, after being bathed in that cursed blood, Vermillion was infected with the curse and sealed away. But the nature of this singularity respawned it …… it has read the causality of the past and achieved incarnation.”

“So that means that it’s not the real thing, but a recreated Divine Knight, and the real Vermilion is still sleeping underground in the Imperial Capital. Does that mean if something were to happen, the Dark Dragon could be resurrected in the real Imperial Capital?!”

Rean groaned in the cockpit at the unexpected turn of events.

Gideon possessed a flute that could control Cryptids. If the object had the power to control other living things, the Dark Dragon might not be an exception.

“To think what Barkhorn-san has said might actually come true…… in any case, let’s deal with the enemy in front……?!”

Perhaps because he was engrossed in the conversation, his reaction was delayed for a moment.

The recreated Dark Dragon leapt into the air at high speed and trampled Valimar under its feet.

“Gahah!”

Crushed by the super-heavy Dark Dragon, the damage fed back to the Divine Knight caused Rean to exhale the air from his lungs.

In that instant when his movement stopped, a new change occurred to Zoro-Agruga.

Just as Rean thought its appearance faded, the miasma came crashing down on Valimar.

Although Valimar said he was used to it, he wouldn’t stand a chance if he was exposed to miasma strong enough to form a dark dragon.

“Guuuuuaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!”

And the same could be said of its Awakener, Rean.

{“Not good!”}

Valimar quickly issued instructions through his sub’s simple thought system and forced Rean out of its body.

Even though it was a replicated, deteriorated curse, with only a fragment of Salt Pale as its origin, it was dangerous even for someone like Rean, who was accustomed to the power of ogre.

As proof of this, Rean’s hair turned ashen, his uniform tore apart, exposing his bare chest, and his heart was pulsating as if it was alive, with a reddish-black light resembling a bruise.

“Vali, mar…… are you, okay?”

{“……………”}

“Valimar!”

[“Don’t call out to it, son. Vali-kun is currently carrying the majority of the reproduced curse that the Vermillion received. All it can do now is to stay still and endure it.”]

“Is it going to be okay?”

[“Well, that’s entirely up to Vali-kun.”]

Gasping from the curse eating away at him, Rean staggered over to the seated Valimar and touched him.

“Loa Valimar……”

In response to Rean’s call, the Power of Ashen manifested.

The entity that was originally the gatekeeper of the trial was now nothing more than an entity of energy as its consciousness had been transferred to the Divine Knight. However, Rean thought it might be possible to somewhat mitigate the curse that was inflicting Valimar by utilizing it.

“With this, I hope it can make you feel better……”

“——Oh no, we won’t just stay and watch him.”

It was another voice that didn’t belong to Rean, Osbon, or Valimar.

As the curse blurred Rean’s vision, something that carried similar vibes to the Dark Dragon from before appeared.

“Panzer Soldat…… Why is it here?!”

[“The terrorists were planning to use this place as a base. They were probably transporting various things to it as a mobile base. Of course, those things include Panzer Soldat.”]

“My apologies for doing this while you’re fighting without any armory, but you’ll turn into a terrible joker if I leave you alone.”

At the same time as the voice spoke, a massive, clumsy attack was unleashed at Rean.

Rean quickly put on the ashen armor made by Loa Valimar that was initially intended to be passed to the Divine Knight’s main body, and Rean tried to fend it off using the Eighth Form of his martial arts, but the opponent’s power was too great and he fell over. 1

The Panzer Soldat ——used the machine gun mounted on the shoulder of the giant machine and fired a volley.

Rean tried to roll away to avoid the gunfire, but with his body feeling heavy due to the curse, he felt he was too slow to dodge the gunfire.

Rean was shot through his ashen armor and fell to the ground. As the follow-up punch was unleashed, Rean had Loa Valimar grab him and throw him away, forcefully avoiding the blow.

“Tch, what a way to avoid an attack.”

Rean was thrown behind the giant machine.

He somehow managed to regain his balance and tried to jump over the opponent, but he couldn’t put any strength into his legs, and his body was unable to brace itself and he fell down miserably.

Rean would normally just hide himself, but the heavy fever that felt like a cold had not subsided began eating away at Rean.

“Yo……u!”

The giant machine was running through orbal energy to produce the power it exerted, and was unable to turn around instantly.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Rean struck the Panzer Soldat with a punch through Loa Valimar.

Despite being nearly half its size, Loa Valimar, who had evolved through the event in the North Ambria’s singularity, managed to shake the giant machine with a single blow.

“This guy…… is he really fighting without any armory?!”

However, since the size was achieved at the expense of maneuverability, the Panzer Soldat didn’t appear to have sustained any minor damage.

There is still a chance, thought Rean, wiping away the sweat dripping from his face as he had Loa Valimar perform the Eighth Form.

“Armor Breaker Punch!”

“What?!”

Loa Valimar’s giant white arm threw the giant machine off balance.

Considering its huge size, it will be difficult to get up once it falls over. This is it!

Rean controlled Loa Valimar, raised both of its clasped arms and swung them down like a hammer——

“You’re being too careless, ‘V’. Don’t you think it’s pathetic of you to have such a hard time against a kid?”

A new intruder’s voice, a woman, rang.

Something split through the air and came flying towards both of Loa Valimar’s arms that it was about to swing down, cutting the giant arms in half.

“Sorry, boy. It was a great trump card, but this is the end.”

“An extendable whip…… no, is that a Templar Sword?!”

“Oh my, you know about it?”

The new intruder had a smaller machine than the giant one the other used, but it was a slender machine that gave a sharper impression than the Panzer Soldat that Rean had seen before.

In its hand, it held a sword customized for a Panzer Soldat’s use.

“You people…… are you from Holy City?! To think someone like that is teaming up with the ‘Noble Faction’…… so it was all a self-directed act, a lie to frame Rosine!”

What’s with the bullshit of Gralsritter gone missing? Rean was furious.

The Gralsritter were captured at the singularity, and then there was Templar sword wielder riding Panzer Soldat owned by “Noble Faction,” all of which felt ridiculous to Rean.

There was no way he could forgive that, so Rean ignored the pain and stood up.

Through blood vessels that ran from the heart to the rest of the body, dark red bruises extended all the way to his face.

It wasn’t only due to the curse of Dark Dragon, but also because Rean was tapping into even more power from his heart.

But if Rean continued to release power like that, his body won’t be able to sustain him.

Just as Osbon was about to act to stop Rean, a voice stopped him.

“What happened to Rosine?”

“Haah?”

“Answer me.”

“……I heard she’s being held in a place that can’t be reached.”

Rean hadn’t intended to answer, but the voice of the woman piloting the slender Panzer Soldat was so filled with urgency that he couldn’t help but speak out.

Before Rean could ask why she wanted to know that, a lump of iron was pinned down on Rean’s body. Indeed, he was caught by the arm of the giant Panzer Soldat behind him.

“Cra……”

“’S’, this will make up for the mistakes you made at Thors.”

“……………”

“Mistake, at Thors?”

Rean struggled against the arms of the giant machine that squeezed him more tightly in each passing second.

He summoned Loa Valimar again and tried to shake off the giant’s arms, but his opponent regained his balance, put up strong defense without letting his guard down, and coupled with the cooperation with the Panzer Soldat, Loa Valimar fell apart again.

The giant machine’s left arm creaked every bone in Rean’s body while its right arm tried to crush Rean’s head.

There was nothing he could do.

Unable to even cry out in agony, Rean’s consciousness was sinking into darkness when Osbon’s voice reached him.

It knew well that in exchange of helping Rean escape his current predicament, it would only add fuel to the flame of his anger.

[“——Rean, I surmise that they are the one who stole the fragment of the Salt Pale, and the woman riding that Panzer Soldat is the one who attacked Miss Rosine. It was probably her mistake not to kill Miss Rosine, and the reason she only broke the sword was probably because she was Miss Rosine’s personal acquaintance——”]

But from that point on, Rean couldn’t hear anything anymore.
