Chapter 166 – Big Brother

“Yes.”

“Hey, Kengo. Sorry to call you out of the blue.”

When I answered the call, Vil-san asked me if I was free today.

“I’m free today.”

“Then, could you work part-time today?”

It really was about the part-time job.

I had only planned to play ADO today, so I agreed and was told to come to the office in an hour.

“No problem. Can I come after I’m done shopping? And what should I make today?”

“Wow, that’s quite a tempting offer. Maybe some homestyle cooking? Wait, but today’s job is about ADO. Could you help me with maintenance for half a day? I’m in a bit of a pinch here because one of the guys who was supposed to come today has not shown up.”

“Yes.”

“If you can, could you also prepare a meal for 4?” I agreed and hung up the call.

Now that I thought about it, was it okay for the company to hire an ordinary high school student as a part-timer for an important job? I was a bit worried.

But I was also a little happy to be called like this.

For a homestyle meal, what should I prepare? While thinking, I put on a jacket and prepared myself. It had been getting a lot colder recently.

I locked up the house and rode my bike, thinking that it would be best to do the shopping first, and headed off.

With a shopping bag in my hand, I walked through the building entrance and headed for the lift at the back. There was no sign of anyone.

I was a little nervous, probably because I wasn’t used to this kind of office building.

I took the lift up to the floor where the company was located, and as I stepped out into the corridor, I was relieved to see a familiar sight.

When I rang the office intercom, a person who was eating curry came out.

“Oh, you’re that chibi from the other day, aren’t you? So, you’re the helper. Well, come on in.”

“Excuse my intrusion.”

I entered, a little bit annoyed by the word ‘chibi’. But what could I say back, since he was big enough for me to have to look up at?

“Are you gonna make meals today too? Let’s go! Vil is quite thoughtful, isn’t he? I’m looking forward to it.”

“I’ll prepare the homestyle meal later. And I’m not a chibi, I’m Kengo Gouno.”

“Oh, that’s an unexpectedly strong name. I’m Akira Sakuma. You can call me Aki-chan. Still, no one calls me like that even if I introduce myself that way.”

The big man who jokingly introduced himself quickly took the shopping bag from my hand and took it to the kitchen at the back.

It seemed Vil-san was still in the middle of work, and only his feet could be seen beneath the desk.

Sakuma-san also left, and while I was standing alone not knowing where to go, I heard the sound of a chair moving and saw Vil-san peeking out from behind the screen.

“Hey Kengo. Sorry to call you out of the blue. A quick question, what’s your level?”

“My personal level is 68.”

While still wearing gear, he responded with a light whistle.

“It’s higher than expected. Good, then we can go. I need you to log in right away. I’ve got somewhere I want you to go. There’s a place I want to check out over there, not here.”

“It’s okay, but can I go right away?”

“You’re in Tre, right? I don’t think it’ll take long if you ride a horse. I want you to meet up with a guy who has already logged in and is on his way over there.”

“Okay.”

I immediately took out the cot from before and put my ID in the gear.

“Ah, that’s right. If I’m going out of the city, I think Vidello-san will tag along with me, so is that okay?”

“He’ll be with you? Why?”

Vil-san seemed a little confused.

“He’s my exclusive guard as I’m involved in quite an important quest. That’s why he’ll be with me when I leave the city gate.”

“An important quest… Yeah, he can go with you. I see. You’ve been getting along well with him. To the point where he’s invited to your workshop.”

As he mumbled, I now realized that the last series of our conversations were not heard. It also seemed he didn’t see us kissing.

“Well, how should I explain, more than close, err, it’s a little embarrassing to say this to Vidello-san’s brother, but he’s my lover.”

“….Eh? Kengo, what did you say?”

“That I’m saying, we’re lovers….”

When I repeated it again, Vil-san, while his head tilted, looked at him.

“For how long?”

“It’s been quite a while…”

“Did you become lovers knowing that both of you live in a different world?”

“Yes.”

When I nodded in affirmation, Vil-san closed his eyes as if he were lost in thought.

The silence continued for a while.

His eyebrows wrinkled, as if he was thinking hard about something, and I also prepared my heart a little, wondering if I would be reprimanded.

His eyes slowly opened, and he looked at me with eyes the same color as Vidello-san’s.

“I see… Kengo, can I ask one thing?”

“Yes…?”

As I stiffened, wondering what he would say, he stood in front of me.

Vil-san, dressed in a casual outfit, was not as muscular as Vidello-san, but he was quite stylish, openly emitting his individual style, and his legs were probably twice as long as mine.

I gulped when I looked up at him.

“Can you call me ‘big brother’?”

He asked me with a straight face. I was sitting down, so he looked so big.

Come to think of it. What did he just say?

“Big brother…?”

“Okay, this big brother will forgive you.”

“Hey, are you some pervert?!”

Sakuma-san immediately butted in our conversations while Vil-san showed a thumbs-up pose.

Fully expecting I would be reprimanded, I was a little dumbstruck by his silly words.

“I’m not some pervert! It’s a given that my brother’s lover is my brother!”

“Who decided such a crazy thing?”

“Me. And wouldn’t you want a chibi like Kengo to call you big brother? When I was told that I had a younger brother and actually met him, I was shocked to find out that he was as tall as me, had more muscles than me, and looked really strong. And moreover, he looks exactly like me.”

“Well, sorry to hear that. Isn’t that great? Just pamper your little brother.”

“That’s what I’m telling you, I’ll pamper Kengo. You should try being called ‘big brother’ by Kengo, too. He’s still in high school.”

“What are you, an old geezer? I’m still too young to do that.”

What the hell were these two talking about?

At first, I was listening to their conversations dumbfounded, but it kept getting more ridiculous.

I wondered if Vil-san was really happy to see Vidello-san, because he didn’t delete his avatar just because Vidello-san’s name was recorded in his list.

It was like…

“It’s such a great thing, having brothers.”

I was an only child, so I longed for it.

In addition, Vil-san was Vidello-san’s big brother. They were also blood-related.

“I mean, I’m glad that Vil-san is Vidello-san’s older brother. Vidello-san sounded really sad when he told me that he was alone. That’s why, I’m glad that he has a brother.”

It seemed that my heartfelt words reached his ears.

He placed his hand on my head as I sat down.

“Once again, I’ve realized how fortunate I am to have met you. If I hadn’t met you, then I wouldn’t have met him yet either.”

The way he stroked my hair was a bit similar to Vidello-san, and I wondered if this was what Regalo-san called ‘Fate’.

Although it had gotten late because we were talking, I logged in safely and prepared for a trip, occasionally taking a glance at Vil-san’s sleeping avatar.

I transferred the necessary items from my workshop inventory to my bag.

Then, as I stepped outside, a bird flew in my direction.

It perched on my shoulder chirping.

“The place we’re heading is the mountain near Tre’s southern gate. I want you to enter that cursed cave there. There’s a stone statue at the deep end, so be careful not to touch it. You’ll get cursed.”

The destination I received from the message was, to my surprise, Jhal Gar-san’s cave. Was there anything else aside from the stone statue in that cave? I guess I’d better tie the doily to my arm today.

With that thought in mind, I headed to the gate.

If I was heading to the cave, alcohol would be essential. The alcohol Blossom-san gave me was used to make potions, so I was hesitant to give it to Jhal Gar-san. It also tasted bad.

“Then I want to buy alcohol, so can I go there after I buy it?”

“Why alcohol?”

“We’re going to that cursed cave, right?”

“Yeah, we’ll go to the innermost part.”

Then we definitely needed alcohol. Since it couldn’t be helped, I would bring Vidello-san with me to Crash’s shop so we could buy some.

With a quick step, I headed to the gate. The bird on my shoulder constantly tilting its head looked just like Vil-san from before, so it made me chuckle a bit.

When I told Roy-san that I was going outside the gate, Vidello-san, who was lightly dressed, came out from inside.

Vidello-san was cool today too.

“Going out today?”

“Well, Vil-san requested me to go to Jhal Gar-san’s cave.”

“Okay. Shall we go?”

“And by the way, this bird is Vil-san.”

When I pointed to the bird on my shoulder, Vidello-san looked at the bird and presented his finger.

Along with Vil-san’s greeting message, the bird chirped and moved to his finger.

Vidello-san placed the bird on his shoulder.

Wow, Vidello-san and the bird, such a sight to behold…!

I took loads of screenshots saying thank you for the meal. I love you!
