Chapter 095 – Holy Gal Demons 2 [A]

“—So where should we go to look first… is it? Is there a place where the other two are likely to go?”

Leonhart left the communal bath with Bezeleye and Serachrolas, gave an explanation to the demon soldiers who stood guard, told them he was done with his reservation, then asked the two holy gal demons about searching for their friends.

The town was lively as it was, and there were many demons coming and going. Of course, Leonhart became the center of attention as a majin, but most would react by either looking away or leaving the place to avoid him.

Since the town was known for having a majin come to visit, or rather, it was under the management of one to begin with, the demons here were more used to majins than most, but they still showed fear toward the majin. As Leonhart brought his hand forward to stop the demon captains he encountered along the way from saluting him, he looked at Bezeleye and saw her putting her right hand on her forehead as she was thinking.

“Let’s see…”

“Fuah…”

Speaking of their outfits, Bezeleye wore a long dress with red and black, while Serachrolas wore a dangerous outfit which only seemed to be nothing more than a wide ribbon that extended from her neck.

But the most conspicuous thing was the great sword that Bezeleye held with her left hand and rested on her shoulder. The great sword, which well exceeded her height, would be able to produce great power if it was swung with the strength she showed earlier. Leonhart wanted to fight her, but it was impossible at the moment. Since the person in question didn’t feel like fighting, he wouldn’t force her to fight.

Leonhart was waiting for Bezeleye’s response as he thought of that. As for Serachrolas, though it might be weird for Leonhart to say it, he couldn’t seem to expect a good answer from her. Even if I ask, I think she would only yawn sleepily so I won’t understand anyway. Just as he was thinking of that, eventually Bezeleye,

“…I want to eat something sweet.”

Is what she said. In reaction to that, Leonhart began to think of the shops that sold sweets in his mind.

“Something sweet, huh— hey, hm? That’s somewhere the other two might be, right?”

“…I want to eat something sweet at the moment.”

“…You.”

The heck is she talking about? Such a question came to mind when he looked at Bezeleye. It was wasteful of him to seriously think about those shops earlier.

However, even as Bezeleye received his gaze, she said with serious expression.

“Rather, I have no idea where they might be.”

“…So what are you going to do about it?”

“Since I can follow their presence, I can just go around the town steadily… And so, let’s go and eat some sweet stuff for now.”

“…How about Serachrolas?”

Although Leonhart was already half-resigned, he had a slight expectation that she might say something decent so he asked Serachrolas. However,

“Hm… I want to eat something sweet…”

“Not you too…”

“Oh my, don’t you know? Women love sweet food, you know?”

“…I know that well, and I felt like being reminded of it at the moment… Well then, it’s this way.”

“It seems you are quite an understanding person.”

Leonhart walked along the main street with a smiling Bezeleye and Serachrolas, who seemed sleepy as usual. There were many shops that sold sweet food on the main street, so he could just bring them there and let them choose what they liked.

But then, although it happened all the time,

“…This is…”

“…I know what you’re trying to say, so you don’t have to put it into words.”

“It feels like you’re a king here.”

“I told you not to put it into words just now…”

“Nyu… amazing…”

There were no demons near the place they were walking, despite being on the main street.

To be more precise, everyone chose to walk on the edge to open up a path for the group. It felt like a king passing through, or the triumphant return of an army. As Leonhart felt like sighing when he saw that,

“I guess being too famous is also troublesome… at least they obeyed the order to not make loud noises unnecessarily, though…”

“Isn’t it great to be respected? I thought a majin would normally be feared.”

“If only it stopped only at being respected… ah, we’re arrived.”

As they were having such a conversation, they arrived at the target store.

It was a fashionable shop on the corner of the main street. There was a group of gal demons and a few pairs of gal and guy demons visiting it, and the shop was one of leading dessert specialty stores in this town.

As they approached the store, they ignored the little bits of noise that happened on their arrival and walked toward the terrace seats under an umbrella. Bezeleye then tilted her head and asked a question.

“…? Even though the seats lined up are full, why is this spot still empty?”

“Aah, these seats are reserved only for executives of the Demon Army. If such people mixed in with the general public, the atmosphere of the store would freeze after all.”

“I see,” nodded Bezeleye in understanding as an employee came over. It was a gal demon,

“L-Leonhart-sama! Welcome to our establishment! If you wish, you can reserve the whole place—”

“You don’t need to be that respectful. Rather than that, just bring the recommended foods appropriately.”

“C-certainly! I’ll bring them right away!!”

After taking their order, the employee ran to the kitchen in a hurry.

I guess the fact that they’re nervous just can’t be helped, thought Leonhart as they waited for their order to come. The employee from earlier brought out a tray of drinks.

“I’m sorry to keep you waiting! Here is some tropical fruit juice!”

“Thanks,” as Leonhart thanked her lightly, the employee nodded her head respectfully and with great momentum as she left. I would prefer it if she were calmer though, thought Leonhart inwardly as he waited for Bezeleye and Serachrolas’ impression. Then,

“Hm… It’s tasty.”

“Yummy…”

“Right? It’s something I drink often after all.”

The juice made with fruit was something Leonhart often drank. The shop seemed to have remembered that as well and brought it immediately. Not that it meant anything, though.

But it seemed the girls really found it delicious and drank it with great momentum. Perhaps it was their first time drinking one? But that was,

…Well, I guess it’s natural for demons to have never drunk it before.

These kinds of things would be available in human towns, but most demons would rarely have the chance to consume them. Even if they were holy gal demons, it didn’t change the fact they were demons. So it was natural they never drank it before.

Demon soldiers would have more chances to eat and drink better stuff compared to common demons. There were many demons who joined the Demon Army for that reason after all.

Leonhart drank his juice while staring at the two, then Bezeleye suddenly asked,

“By the way, is money necessary in this town? There are many shops after all.”

“No, it’s not necessary.”

Leonhart shook his head at that question. It seemed that gave her another question to ask,

“…All of this is provided for free?”

“Bluntly said, that would be the case… however, it doesn’t mean it’s provided without limit.”

Leonhart took a breath. As he tapped the table with his finger, Leonhart said.

“The demons who lived here are those affiliated to the Demon Army after all. Limitations are placed on the demons who aren’t affiliated with the Demon Army.”

“Limitations?”

“Aah,” said Leonhart as he nodded,

“For example, a shop like this would only provide a single portion of food per person. If they wanted more, the customer would have to either be affiliated to Demon Army or provide the shop something in exchange—”

“I’m sorry to keep you waiting! It’s the special cake set!”

The ordered item came in the middle of their conversation.

Three plates with some cakes were placed in front of them. Seeing that, Bezeleye was,

“…So, the continuation of the story…”

Bezeleye urged Leonhart to speak. However, seeing her eyes were nailed on the plate, Leonhart exhaled.

“…Let’s eat first. We can continue our conversation after that.”

“…Let’s do that.”

“Fuah… it’s sweet.”

“…Sera, isn’t it bad of you eating ahead of me?”

“It’s tasty…”

Bezeleye glanced at Serachrolas and admonished her for eating ahead of her, but Bezeleye immediately looked back to her own plate and used her fork to pick up the cake and slowly brought it to her mouth. Then,

“How is it, is it tasty?”

“…”

However, Bezeleye froze silently at that question.

…Perhaps it doesn’t suit her palate?

Such expectation was soon overturned. After a while, Bezeleye’s body moved,

“—!”

She began to eat the cake with great momentum. The cake set which provided quite a large amount of cake disappeared into Bezeleye’s mouth in less than a few seconds and the plates quickly became empty.

Then, with the fork still on her hand, she looked at Leonhart and said.

“…Can I ask for another serving?”

“It seems you liked it… It’s only limited for one person portion, but—”

Before Leonhart completed his sentence, Bezeleye spoke her words. That was,

“—I’ll join the Demon Army.”

“Ah?”

Leonhart stared at Bezeleye in confusion. But she continued,

“I’ll live here from now on. So give me another serving—”

“…No, don’t get baited by the sweet stuff here.”

Even as Leonhart gave a light retort, Bezeleye’s expression was serious. Perhaps that was how much she longed for sweet food. As Leonhart rolled his eyes, he then took a breath and regained his mind,

“…I’ll be grateful if you did join… but even if you don’t, you can eat as you like since you’re together with me at the moment.”

“…Really?”

Leonhart nodded to that and called the employee. Then,

“Bring every single menu item in this shop.”

“Certainly!” Along with such an energetic voice, the employee went back inside. As Bezeleye was dumbfounded by their exchange, she muttered,

“…Is Leonhart-kun a god?”

“…It’s my first experience with gaining faith just by treating someone to sweet foods… you want to eat my portion too?”

Leonhart said that as he offered his plate. Then Bezeleye stiffened once again,

“…As expected, are you the god with authority over sweet food?”

“God (kami) over sweet taste (amakami)?”

“…”

He slipped. Bezeleye’s gaze felt painful. He just lightly said what came to his mind, but he regretted being too casual about it.

…That’s weird (okashii)… I thought it would be funny… since it’s a snack (okashii).

For the time being, Leonhart cleared his throat to took back the slip,

“…Just eat all you like.”

“I’ll do just that.”

“Nyu, me too…”

When he gave his permission, the two of them, especially Bezeleye’s eyes, shone brightly. As she ate the cakes presented to her, she looked so happy that she might have ♪ on her speech tone.

“It’s delicious…”

She kept eating with an expression of bliss. As Leonhart saw that,

…She sure eats a lot…

She ate so much that the shop’s ingredients for the day might be emptied by her.

But even if that was the case, there shouldn’t be any problem. The ingredients are supplied regularly after all, thought Leonhart optimistically.

In fact, although Leonhart mentioned limitations earlier, there wouldn’t be a problem even if the demons ate as much as they liked.

In the demon realm, there were tree cities — several trees that were known as the world trees.

These trees were the reason why demons wouldn’t suffer from starvation, unlike humans. Those trees produced abundant resources and kept growing even as they were harvested.

It was also because of these trees that the Demon Army could operate without problem. The maximum number of demons that could be operated at a time were numbered in the millions, but those trees could supply those numbers. There shouldn’t be a problem, even if the demons in this city ate all they liked.

However, transporting those resources took some effort. It wasn’t an exaggeration to say that half of the personnel of the Demon Army were dedicated for that sole purpose. That was how important it was.

It might be an issue if millions of demons lived in this town, but it shouldn’t be a problem to let a few hundred thousands of demons eat as they liked. In the first place, there is a certain person who eats an unbelievable amount of food in the Demon Army. If she is compared to that— just as Leonhart thought of that,

“—hm?”

Suddenly, the main street began to buzz.

Emotions such as anxiety and fear propagated there. As Leonhart frowned when he felt that, Bezeleye near him said.

“…Oh my, so it’s there.”

“Ah, it’s there, you mean…”

“Holy gal demon.”

Bezeleye replied briefly. She spoke while eating the cakes between a few words.

“This presence — munch, is Wenlina.”

“Hm… it’s We-chan…”

Serachrolas also nodded slowly. In that case, thought Leonhart as he stood up,

“Well then, I guess I’ll bring her here. You girls can wait here.”

“Oh my, is it okay?”

“Okay or not, aren’t you enjoying your cakes at the moment? Don’t you try to stand with the cake still stabbed by the fork in your hand.”

“…I couldn’t go against my instinct.”

“…Okay then, I’m going.”

“Yes, please,” said Bezeleye as she continued to eat her cake which made Leonhart feel exasperated as he went to the main street.
