Chapter 103 – Entrusted Things [D]

It was a room without its owner.

It was a luxurious room, but it was a room that emphasized practicality, and one could see shelves with many books lined up.

Still, there were small and cute decorations lined up, which suggested the taste of the room’s owner.

“…I expected it, but it was really left as it was…”

Majin Leonhart entered the room.

He looked around the room and kept walking around.

“It is still in the same state as that day…”

The bed was still messy. The chair was pulled out and the cushions were positioned where she always sat.

…Looking back, my life was centered around this room.

When he closed his eyes, he could still see her appearance here. That was how much time he spent in this place.

[“Leonhart, how about reading this book together?”]

She loved books and read many kinds of books.

We read at different speeds so things would be troublesome if we read together. Such was what Leonhart said, but they still read together in the end.

[“Leonhart… I… cooked some dishes…”]

She also loved to cook.

In the end, that mysterious taste never changed until her last moment, but thinking he could no longer eat it, he couldn’t help but miss it. He wished he could eat more of it.

[“Leonhart? There’s something I’d like to try, is it okay?”]

She also researched a lot of things.

She was very enthusiastic and knew a lot. If he’d researched things together with her more, perhaps things wouldn’t have ended up like this.

[“Leonhart… embrace me, okay?”]

She was a person who liked to be spoiled and flirt.

She said she loved being embraced. Leonhart also loved to embrace her.

[“Leonhart!”]

I—no, everyone loved her smile.

Your smile always made us happy.

You gave me a lot of things.

The fact that I could have a good time in this world is all thanks to you after all.

Thank you very much.

“…Hm, this is…”

Suddenly, Leonhart noticed a book on her desk.

There were two white letters on it,

“…Don’t tell me.”

Leonhart picked up the letters and the book.

The content was,

“…It’s addressed to me.”

One of them was a letter addressed to Leonhart, and he proceeded to open it.

There was,

—Dear Leonhart. If you’ve chosen to forget about everything and move on, please dispose of this letter without reading it.

“…What does, that mean…?”

Chosen to forget about everything?

I don’t understand what that means. However,

“…”

That was out of the question.

Forgetting was impossible.

Therefore, he had no choice but to read it.

“What on earth is…”

Leonhart opened the letter. Then,

“—?! What the?!”

At that moment, the letter started glowing and caused something to happen.

Leonhart was familiar with it. This light was,

“Is it magic…?”

It was a magic light.

As the light wrapped its way around Leonhart,

“—gh! Guh… Uaahh…!!”

A moment of severe pain ran through his whole body.

He groaned in pain, but it only lasted for a moment, and when he regained himself,

“—What is this…?”

Leonhart trembled in astonishment.

This was something he hadn’t expected,

“…This is… no, is it like that after all…?”

He made a guess while having doubts.

“Then these letters and the book are—”

Leonhart continued to read the letter as he picked the rest.

The contents of the letter weren’t all that different from what Leonhart had guessed,

“—gh.”

Before he knew it, he gritted his teeth and the letter crumpled from being clenched too hard.

Feelings of indignation occupied his chest. However, he calmed down as he thought of her,

“…I see. So this is— no, this is how it feels to be entrusted…”

He understood. About what she had requested of him and what he should do.

About the path he should take from now on.

“…I see. So there was no such thing as salvation from the beginning after all…”

And that was the only path he could choose.

In that case,

“—Okay.”

He would tread that path even if he had to put everything on the line.

“I’ll do it. It’s none other… but for you after all.”

But that wasn’t all. That was,

“I will accomplish it with my own will.”

It already became something I decided and wished for.

He thought about Ssulal.

He looked around the room where she once lived, and he spoke inwardly.

—I’ve been shamefully spending my time wailing. Sorry about that… Ssulal.

But he would no longer cry. This was the last time he would cry.

—I… How long will I have to spend without you…?

It would be an extremely long journey. There was no doubt it would be tough.

However,

—Since you said so… no, that’s not it. I’ve decided to live by my own will.

Perhaps he might collapse along the way.

Even so,

—I will meet a lot of precious people, so much so that you’ll be envious of it. You might end up getting jealous though.

I think you were happy to have a lot of precious things.

I also… felt happy to find that precious person known as you.

—So I will no longer regret it. I might be worried and hesitant, though. Even so, I will keep struggling and find my answers.

I will protect the things that are precious to me. Everything I choose to do, be it good or bad, will be for that reason, just like a majin would.

Perhaps you’ll get angry. But even if you do, please do so only once everything is taken care of, after it is all over.

—I will protect the things that are important to me. I am your majin, after all. I need to be able to do that much at least.

I will keep going. I will no longer look back. So be sure to look after me — from wherever you are.

“That’s why—”

That’s why, once everything is over — and if we manage to meet again,

“I’ll have you to tell me… the words you failed to tell me last time—”

The akonka flower bloomed all over the world and announced the name of the next maou.

The name of the next maou — was Nighcisa.

The curtains closed on the old era, while the curtains of the new era opened.

With the things entrusted from the old era in his heart, Majin Leonhart stood at the entrance of the new era.

“—Thou are…”

“Hah—”

No matter how difficult it might be, someday-

“I have come to pick you up. Maou — Nighcisa-sama.”

Someday, I will definitely — take it back.

Author Note:

And so, hello everyone. Kuroiwa here. Thank you for your continued support.

First of all, things that came to mind: “—Aah-…it’s over…! Moreover, I’ve done it…!”

Such was my feeling. This marked the end of the SS era. It sure feels long.

I intended to end it around 50 chapters in the beginning, but the final product is more than double that amount. It can’t be helped.

But it really made me emotional. First of all, I was just imagining Ssulal-chan, wrote these on a memo, and uploaded it casually, but I never thought it actually lasted this long. I’m surprised myself.

It is thanks to all of you that I managed to write this much. No, seriously. I wouldn’t continue writing it if there wasn’t a demand. Thank you for high evaluations, impressions, registering as favorite, type reports, and those who were just reading it. It is all thanks to you that I managed to keep my motivation high.

And since there’s demand, the story will continue! If I made simple plan about how I would write it,

NC Era: “Heartthrob, bloody party of war filled with men, (head) will roll!”

GL Era: “Dark ranch story (If I don’t go this far, it’s doubtful if new heroine would appear…)”

So far, that’s the plan for the next two eras.

By the way, this work is inspired by a certain song. If you paid attention to this chapter, I think some of you would notice it. It is ALICESOFT’s work, OP song of Toushin Toshi 3, “Get the Regret Over” by Katagiri Rekka-san. I think many of you know about it, if you try to read this while listening to the music, you will feel like crying so I recommend it ().

Well then, it would be NC Era next. I could write it right away, but I’ll look back on past chapters, review the plot, think about stories, and I also wanted a break, so it might take some time. Well, perhaps it would be out tomorrow like nothing was wrong ().

Everyone, thank you very much. Please continue to support me from now on as well. Please enjoy future activities of Loenhart.

Tsukii Note:

Finally the SS Era is over!

Yeah, as I probably mentioned before, it felt like an extremely long prologue and introduction which seemed focused on drama. Next era was more focused on war. We will see many mobs die, with major war could take several chapters long to cover. Many named characters would be added as well.

Anyway, please look forward to it!
