The Omega Trio’s Visit – Part 1
That time the college omega trio, Wakatsuki, Hayashi, and Takenouchi, made a house visit.
“…It’s huge…”1
Hayashi, who stood by my side, was the one who voiced it, but I was sure all three of us shared the same sentiment.
We looked up at the elegant building.
We stood with our mouths hanging open in front of a sophisticated, high-class apartment with a few large rooms.
The person who led the way in front of us turned around and smiled wryly. He must’ve heard the murmur.
Today was a beautiful day, perfect for a visit to Karasawa’s house.
One of my friends, Karasawa Shinya, whom I quickly became friends with after entering college, was a male omega.
He had a peculiar constitution—or rather, environment—and was a person who could blend in with the surrounding omegas without realizing it.
For Karasawa, who apparently did not have many friends thus far, college life seemed quite strange at first, as he was only liked by omegas.
Recently, he seemed to have gotten used to it with his strong adaptability and managed to match the faces and names of friends he registered on the messaging app.
As the “favorites” (he gets angry if I say it like this) of such a special omega like Karasawa, the three of us were finally allowed to hang out in his room today.
Hayashi, normally a meek girl, had been cocky for days, and even Takenouchi, who usually seemed uninterested in such mundane matters, had been nervous since the day before.
No matter how much people begged Karasawa, not a single one of them was able to set foot in Karasawa’s house.
So, we gathered our wits and stimulated his sense of guilt by inviting him to our places; my single apartment, Takenouchi’s place where he lives with his guardians, and Hayashi’s surprisingly well-off parents’ house. Each time we insisted, “Next time, invite us to Karasawa’s house,” and today, one year and several months after entering college, he finally gave in.
Karasawa was most likely reluctant to invite us because of his mate.
We each came here with the best souvenirs we could think of.
When we gathered at the designated train station in the evening, we were greeted by Karasawa, who was dressed somewhat more casually than we were used to.
“Good evening, Wakatsuki.”
“Sup~”
Takenouchi and Hayashi, who had apparently arrived earlier, were waiting beside Karasawa.
Hayashi was wearing a dress that was frillier and livelier than usual.
The two of them were carrying paper bags printed with the logos of famous stores that I have seen in the food section of department stores.
“Sorry, am I late?”
“No, you are on time. This was far for you, right?”
“It took some time, but the trip went smoothly, so it was nothing. Should we get something to eat before we go?”
“I’ve made a few snacks if you’d like.”
“Yay~ Karasawa-kun’s homemade cooking!”
Hayashi clapped her hands in delight. I knew his cooking was delicious so I also looked forward to it.
The four of us took our time walking away from the train station.
Karasawa’s roommate seemed strangely enthusiastic about having us over and bought all sorts of food, so our menu was full of food meant for parties. Karasawa was apologetic and said he would be grateful if we could eat as much as possible.
It seemed like Karasawa’s roommate was actually quite welcoming.
At the same time, a chuckle almost escaped the unshakeable Karasawa at the words “roommate”.
He was very careful to not reveal his secondary gender to others.
If you weren’t close to him, you would have thought he was a beta and wouldn’t have even suspected he was an omega.
Everyone here was aware that this “roommate” was Karasawa’s mate, but whether Karasawa himself was aware that we know or not was a bit questionable.
We followed Karasawa, who was walking ahead of us at a steady pace, and entered a residential area about 10 minutes from the station. Rather than a row of houses, the area looked more like a redeveloped area with tall apartment buildings.
I was getting a feel of what to expect as I walked down the well-maintained brick stairs that lined a new and splendid building.
And now, Karasawa gestured with a, “Here we are,” at one of the high-class apartment buildings, in which the design quality could be seen from the sophisticated individual rooms with an unusually large window of glass. Furthermore, the elevator button that Karasawa pushed was to the top floor.
(Could it be that Karasawa secured a rich alpha?)
In fact, that expression was not that far from the truth, but I would like to add that it was not the same as those sordid sugar daddy relationships that often appeared in dramas.
Karasawa opened the luxurious front door without hesitation, making me wonder what the point of such an elaborate entrance was.
We three commoners, already feeling dread, walked through the door with our shoulders scrunched.
“I’m home~”
“Pardon the intrusion…”
I imitated Karasawa, who took off his shoes and went down the hallway, and headed in after I borrowed slippers from them and arranged my shoes.
It was the kind of room you’d see on TV when visiting celebrity homes.
It would be exactly the same if there were an expensive painting or something hanging on the wall.
The living room was at the end of a short hallway, with two adjoining rooms. I was told in advance that the floor layout was a two-bedroom with a living room, dining room, and kitchen, but I wasn’t sure if the term “living room” was enough to describe this large space.
The furniture and objects were small, but the shelves and tables, all the same dark brown, which were not only sturdy but also delicately designed, gave off good taste. This must’ve cost a lot of money.
I sensed the seriousness of Karasawa’s mate, just from the room’s interior design, and was slightly frightened.
The dining room and kitchen were located in one corner of the living room, and Karasawa poked his head into that area. A tall man appeared right after.
“Welcome, it’s nice to meet you.”
Everyone present understood from experience that the man with a gentle smile was an alpha.
A rarely-seen, first-class, superior alpha with a family lineage.
We froze and the man stared at us with a slightly troubled smile on his face.
“…Ah, sorry for intruding. I’m Wakatsuki, in the same major as Karasawa-kun.”
Forcing my stiff mouth to move, I introduced myself with a light bow of my head.
The other two followed right after.
“I’m Takenouchi, a philosophy major. Nice to meet you.”
“I’m in the life science department, you can call me Hayashi. Thank you very much for the invitation.”
“No need to be so polite. I’m Shinya’s roommate, Amami Ren.”
For some reason, we were the ones flustered by the sight of him removing his apron and bowing.
His hair was loosely parted to the side with a brownish tint that occasionally hid his intense eyes, which shined like gold depending on the angle.
His good-natured, smiling appearance couldn’t be any more perfectly calculated, and it was easy to see that he was a man who never let his guard down.
Tall but not large in build, his long limbs with supple muscles were covered by a casual gray shirt and denim pants.
And most importantly, his last name. I didn’t know if the other two noticed, but I understood immediately.
This upper-class alpha, who was picturesque even in his normal attire, a residence with strict security, the unusual surname “Amami,” and a cautious attitude that wouldn’t allow anyone to enter his territory.
Perhaps he was… related to or directly affiliated with the Amami conglomerate, which has developed a wide range of businesses from manufacturing and construction, to the IT industry in recent years.
If such a person were to wander around town, a thirsty omega would want to hang on and spend the night with him.
Amami, on the other hand, was looking at us with curious eyes.
Perhaps he had already figured out or knew in advance that we were all omegas.
To alphas, omegas were things to dominate. Prey.
The prouder the alpha, the more likely they were to think so, and unmated omegas would normally never come to a room where such a high-ranking alpha was waiting.
Setting me aside, I wondered if Hayashi, the female omega, should not have come here… As I was getting impatient, Amami suddenly removed his gaze from us.
“Shinya, I’m glad you have a lot of friends who have come to eat. I’ll heat up the soup, so sit.”
“It’s fine, I can set the table. More importantly, I made salad yesterday, so could you plate that?”
“Okay~”
After a lighthearted conversation with Karasawa in the dining room, he smiled again and led us to the sofa.
“It’s really gotten dark. We’ll bring everything out soon, so wait here.”
“Ah, w-we can help out too.”
“It’s fine really. Guests should stay seated.”
As I was about to stand, he gently pushed my shoulders down and sat me back on the sofa.
The part of my skin that he touched through my clothes felt so tingly and twitchy that it felt like I was burned.
When I checked the dining room where the two homeowners retreated, the two people beside me and I let out a long sigh at about the same time.
“Wh-what was up with that…? That was the first time I’ve ever seen such a dangerous-looking alpha.”
“He’s not the kind of person you’d find just casually lying around. As expected, Karasawa seems like a big shot.”
Takenouchi chuckled as Hayashi flopped her back on the sofa and melted.
If you lived for nearly twenty years as an omega, you would occasionally see dangerous high-ranking alphas personally.
Most of them were people of status, similar to the way we looked at celebrities as a rare sight when we saw them on the street. When you’re an omega, as long as the alpha was not your “fated mate”, there would be no imminent danger if you were on suppressors regularly.
However, Karasawa had apparently met him when they were students.
How could he run away so skillfully as the “fated mate” of such a powerful alpha for so many years?
I felt a pain in my shoulder where he touched me, so I held it lightly and stared blankly in the direction he left when Takenouchi poked me at my side.
“Hey, hey, Wakatsuki. You’re not falling for him, right? He only has eyes for his mate, y’know.”
“I can’t even be friends with an alpha who gives off that much pressure just from being near him…”
I exhaled shakily, hiding a sigh, and forced my eyes to look down.
Even Takenouchi, who was supposed to be accustomed to alphas, was immensely impressed by his presence.
The earlier exchange was probably an inspection or a warning.
He had a tremendously possessive desire to not allow any being by Karasawa’s side to harm him, no matter who.
He would worry about even omegas Karasawa deemed harmless.
“As I thought, alphas are scary.”
I completely agreed with Takenouchi’s mumbled words.
