Chapter 85 – Maou Castle

If the hero came to this continent and noticed the difference in civilizations, things would become troublesome, so I built a castle on the vacated land of the former Masia Kingdom. So before the hero left the old papal territory, I moved into that castle. From the hero’s perspective, it was like the demon lord appeared right after they arrived on the continent ruled by the demon lord. Well, it wasn’t like they came here for an adventure so it should be fine.

I also wanted to do some demon lord roleplay anyway, so I brought two beautiful slaves along with me. They were Pierre’s swordsmanship masters, Anne and Eva. The twin sisters I picked up at some point were now two of the top-class swordsmen, and since I had been hurting them since they were young, their resilience was extraordinary.

I usually wore durable armor that used a mysterious metal that was sturdy enough to withstand a magic bomb, but this time, I wore rags and fetters that looked like iron balls. If I didn’t do this, Pierre couldn’t win, so it couldn’t be helped. Pierre did grow stronger every year, but he still couldn’t beat Eva, the weaker of the twins, after all.

With the final arrangements concluded, I waited with my chin resting on the custom-made throne as the group of heroes entered the castle. In the end, they were just a party of four. The hero’s size was abnormal, which also made me think that he might be a hero-like existence back in his original world as well. The other parties aside from the hero and Pierre were just commoners, so I would have them quickly leave the stage.

“You are the demon lord who killed many people and destroyed the peace, aren’t youuuuuu?!”

Since the hero came to greet me, I fired off a magic cannon in return. Combined with the metal plate that could reflect energy produced by the magic bomb, it shot the tremendous energy produced by the bomb in an ordinary direction. The targets were the two commoners of the hero party. In order to prevent the hero and Pierre from helping them, I sent Anne and Eva to fight them, and the figure of me shooting the magic cannon toward the two commoners was the very picture of a demon lord.

“Go, my masterpieces.”

Two of their party members disappeared in an instant, which made the hero and Pierre reveal their anger. That said, they were still being pushed back by Anne and Eva’s swords. Eh, they were so weak.

Ah, but because the hero used mana armor made from his enormous mana, Anne’s sword couldn’t reach him. What’s with that cheat? It made me feel sorry for Anne since she has tirelessly polished her swordsmanship. As for Pierre, Eva got distracted by the fetters placed on her, so he made use of that opening and slashed her shoulder.

A lot of blood came out and Eva collapsed to the ground, and Pierre seemed a little distraught even though there was no way Eva would die with just that. What a fool. What were you going to do if the hero noticed?

On the other hand, the hero was still being pushed back by Anne’s fierce attack, so I decided to give him a little support. I fired the magic cannon once more from behind Anne, targeting Anne as well. As Anne noticed that, she evaded the cannon in an exaggerated manner and fell backward. That said, even if Anne didn’t avoid it, she would have been able to tank it.

As for the blast of the magic cannon in question, it was drowned out by the hero’s mana armor. As the hero noticed his mana armor was effective against the magic cannon, the hero thrust his sword at Anne, who was still on the ground, and demanded her to leave. Yep, you should follow his request to leave for the time being.

Anne quickly left, taking Eva with her. After that, the battle between me and the hero began, but as I fired the magic cannon once again with increased power, it hit the hero directly, blowing him back and slamming him against the wall. It seemed to penetrate his armor, so he wouldn’t be left unscathed if he got directly hit by the magic bomb’s energy — powerful enough to destroy a city. It seemed his cheat wasn’t that big of a deal after all.

As the hero got repelled, Pierre proposed to use magic by combining their power. The hero agreed and stood up to protect Pierre while Pierre drew the magic formation. Using magic circles for magic was not common in this world, so I guess they were trying to conceal what magic they would use on me.

There were several methods to kill me using the hero’s enormous mana, but I had no idea what old-fashioned magic could do. The hero and Pierre started pouring mana into the completed magic circle, so I tried to interrupt them with a magic cannon, but the hero’s magic intercepted me.

…Hm, I’ve received a signal from Pierre. Plan 36, huh. Since the hero seemed to be mustering his entire mana, it seemed he could be killed by just throwing a knife at him right now. As I matched the timing and threw a knife laced with poison toward Pierre, the hero blocked it with his body. It was all according to plan.

As the hero collapsed to the ground, he shouted, “GOOOO!” to Pierre, which Pierre answered by activating the magic formation fueled by the hero’s entire mana, conjuring a huge glacier. I did try to resist by firing the magic cannon at its highest power, but it didn’t have any effect. It was gradually pushed and a huge wall of ice approached in front of me.

I was frozen, huh? I think it wouldn’t kill me, or rather, I think Pierre deliberately chose a spell that wouldn’t kill me. Since it was powered with an absurd amount of mana, I think this ice wouldn’t melt no matter how long it took. Pierre successfully sealed me physically… He wasn’t an incompetent person who couldn’t find a method to kill me, so I guess he intended to do it this way from the beginning.

Oh, the ice was crystal clear, so I could see what happened afterward. Pierre rushed over to save the poisoned hero and made him drink a recovery medicine-like liquid. But right after he drank it, the hero collapsed. If someone was currently dying from a deadly poison running through his body and drank another powerful poison, of course they would die immediately. Pierre, who performed well until the end, stabbed the hero and stepped onto the sword, then bowed his head to me, who was frozen in ice.

With this, Pierre killed the hero and became the person who sealed the demon lord. That should be enough for his achievements, and he showed that he has some strength. The next generation of Deal Empire was secured. I was satisfied with the 15 years I enjoyed as an emperor, so I guess I will take a nap until this ice melts.
