Chapter 10

There was a man and woman in front, looking down on me.

I was sitting on the ground in seiza, looking downwards. Why was I sitting on the ground, you ask? And really angry at that? Even though I was just playing with the soil a while ago.

It happened just a few hours ago. I was about to pick some vegetables from the field while thinking about what to make today, when the man and woman, both dressed in gaudy clothes, appeared.

I was surprised!! Who were these people?!

I looked a bit more closely at their appearances, and they appeared to be of the same age as me. Could it be…

Ah! Could it be that you’re one of the candidates?!”

The moment I asked that, the woman donned in dazzling clothes lifted her eyes.

“We are not someone who should be addressed in such a presumptuous way by a lower class. The lower class must wait for us to address them first. As expected of the lower class. I wonder if it’s because you’re of the lower class? The lower class doesn’t even know how to be polite? Quickly, sit over here in seiza. Moreover, what is this field? So disgusting, my clothes will get dirty.”

What?! She scolded me profusely while emphasizing the words ‘lower class’. The lower class this and that… She didn’t have to say it. I knew it already. Even though she looked so beautiful, she was too arrogant. Why was I getting angry at these people I only just met? And if she didn’t like her clothes getting dirty, wouldn’t it be better if she hadn’t come here at all?

“Hey! I told you to sit in seiza! And I’m talking to you! Say something. Can’t you read the room?”

Maybe she wasn’t pleased I kept silent and didn’t sit in seiza, so she spouted some contradictory words. Are you serious?! No, didn’t you just say I had to wait to be addressed before speaking? What’s with this person?! And I don’t even know you! High status people really liked doing things their way!

“Ollie-sama, these candidates are called Miluka-sama and William-sama.”

Solvay-san suddenly appeared out of thin air behind me and told me these things. Oh, so they’re candidates after all. As expected, with their high standing, their clothes would also be fancy. The hems were adorned with frills, and if those people did some work in the field, it seemed these clothes would become dirty instantly. I had similar clothes arranged for me, but I looked for the plain and practical ones and decided to wear them instead. But the biggest reason was that, even if I wore them, they wouldn’t suit me.

Even so, these people had hands that looked like they hadn’t held anything else other than a cup of tea. They were white and smooth. The sheltered lady and young man, innocent of the ways of the world, was it? Heh, there was some elegance in them after all.

“Well, what is the reason for your visit?” I asked.

I sat in seiza for the time being. But why did they come to this insignificant place? Definitely not to meet me though. Or should I say, I’d rather not meet them. Just from their appearance alone, they obviously didn’t come here for a good thing. Besides, was it Miluka-sama? I think? She rolled her eyes again even though I only asked her a simple question. Scary.

“I didn’t come to this place with a reason! To go out of my way for this dirty place?! A stupid child, aren’t you?!”

What?! Even my father has never called me stupid. Referring to this field as dirty, how rude! It’s a soil full of nutrition! Such nerve to say whatever they please just because of their high standing and their alpha status. I object to this inequality in status! I vote for equality!… That’s what I wanted to say, but it would be bad if I got into trouble, so I had to endure… But their way of speaking was really infuriating!

“For His Majesty to come to a place like this stinky field suited only for commoners…

Why would he come here for this ugly Omega of the lower class? What’s so good about this cheap looking face? If he wanted to choose, shouldn’t he choose me or William-san?” she asked.

His Majesty? Coming here? For what? Also, calling me ugly with a cheap-looking face? I, myself, knew that I looked ordinary, but to be told this straight to my face? Couldn’t she choose her words better? They hurt. I’m really sorry for having a face like this. Hmph!

“Then, what do you need from this ugly and cheap-looking person, if I may ask?“ I said.

“Shut up! I know that His Majesty has been visiting you! This ugly bitch! You seduced

His Majesty with the pheromones of an Omega in heat, right?”

She added ‘bitch’ to ‘ugly’ this time.

Seduced him with pheromones? As a person who had such a high standing, her language was quite crude. Besides, a person like His Majesty has never come here in the first place. There’s no way he would have done that.

The only one who came here was Iyuri…

…………‼︎

Eeh?! Could it be that you’re talking about Iyuri-san?! That person is His Majesty, the Emperor?!” I exclaimed loudly.

“Iyuri-san?! That person?! How dare you call His Majesty, the Emperor, so

imprudently?! Apologize!”

Her face turned red as she fumed.

Ack! Really?! Wah! Are you serious?! No, no, if I had known that Iyuri-san is His Majesty, I wouldn’t have called him that! But, really? Iyuri-san is His Majesty?!”

“Isn’t that what I’ve been saying?! You’re so stupid! And don’t call him by his name! You’re not someone who can be allowed to do that! Shameless.”

Miluka-sama, who looked like she was about to jump at me, was restrained by the man standing nearby; he had been observing quietly before he opened his mouth to speak. Compared to Miluka-sama, he looked much more gentle. He had narrow, drooping eyes that gave off an androgynous feeling. Anyways, it looked like we would be able to talk properly.

“Nice to meet you, my name is William Sackon Zabel. Were you not aware of His Majesty?”

He had a gentle and kind voice.

“You don’t need to introduce yourself to this pauper,” grunted Miluka-sama nearby.

She looked completely provoked! Heh heh, my bad. I’m such a pauper after all.

“Nice to meet you. I’m called Ollie Sadon. And I really didn’t know. As a person of low standing, I don’t have any right to have an audience with His Majesty after all.”

When I cleared it up, William-sama stared hard at my face as if to ascertain whether I was lying or telling the truth. That’s why I’m saying it’s true.

“… The person who was visiting you, he is the Emperor of this country. Surprisingly, it seems that he has been coming here frequently. Both me and Miluka were really surprised.”

He smiled brightly.

“Seriously…? Wow! So he was His Majesty, the Emperor… I see… Iyu–His Majesty himself told me that he is a civil official, but I didn’t think much of it. Much less that he would actually be the Emperor…” I said.

That naive big guy––! He lied to me! Was I actually played by him?! No, he is not capable of doing such a shrewd thing, that person.

So, when Solvay-san saw Iyuri-san’s face, he was so shocked because he knew his true identity. I see. Wait, speaking of Solvay-san, he’s not here anymore. Where did he go?

Aaaa–, I can’t speak informally or call Iyuri-san by his name anymore, nor can I just disregard those two to meet him. Even though it was so fun. My heart ached. It was such a shame.

“If you realized His Majesty’s true identity, then don’t approach him anymore! You are not someone worthy of appearing in front of his noble eyes after all! The candidates are me and William-san only! It’s only because you’re 16 that you were chosen by chance

as an addition. So why don’t you just give up your candidacy and go home?”

She pointed at me with her finger and said as if looking down on me.

Snap!

“If I could do something like that, I would have done it from the very beginning. It is not like I came here because I wanted to. So there is no reason for you to tell me all this. And you do not have to worry, there is no way His Majesty would marry me, right? I know that you guys are the likely winners. I will try to tell this to the Grand Steward anyways, so could you please wait?”

I got so angry, I was about to go see the Grand Steward when suddenly someone from behind me pushed me, sending me flying.

I was caught off guard and fell down on the ground. Oh, fudge! The dirt entered my mouth! Ptooey ptooey!

“Oh my, I’m sorry. My hand slipped. It’s because a person of the lower class was cocky enough to tell me excuses. To think that both of us are candidates, so disgusting. I will kindly inform the Steward of this matter, so just get out of here immediately.”

Her hand slipped, huh?! Oh, and not to mention, the front of my clothes got covered in dirt! And I wasn’t making excuses! And besides, I should be the one who is disgusted to be a candidate with her!

Moreover, her voice was so remorseless. Ptooey.

“Miluka, it’s not right to raise a hand,” William chided her at once while helping me stand up.

Even though he is such an honest person… the lady on the other hand… a bastard!

I seethed even while expressing my gratitude. How dare you trample on me so easily?! Even though I believed that the lady from an upper-class family would be well-mannered! In the end, that said lady would raise her hand against someone she didn’t like… If it wasn’t for the dirt, I would’ve been injured! She’s such a moron–––! Lady, you’re not a kid anymore!

I’msoangry–––!!

But I have to endure… I have to endure! Father would be ashamed! I somehow suppressed my anger and faced them with a smile.

“No, please do not worry. I am really thankful that you took the trouble to personally come all the way to such a faraway place and spare me of your precious time. For now, let me inform the Steward about this matter. Thank you for your consideration.”

“I told you that I am the one who will do that!!!”

She started shouting in a loud voice that she was the one who wanted to do it.

“… Okay.”

I have to quickly leave this place, it wouldn’t be good if they saw my angry face. Ah, but I still need to change my clothes. I’ll just return to the room for a bit.

I thought and was about to turn my feet to the direction of the room.

“Ouch!”

I bumped into something. What was that?!

I looked up and there he was, the root of the issue. Iyuri-san stood there with his brows furrowed.
