Chapter 065 – Dear Tenma, Yet Another Fortune Came My Way IX

However, Ferio responded confidently.

“Aah, I know. But that will disappear naturally if you achieve great success. For that reason, I want you to involve a lot of people and move on a large scale. I want people to know that it’s none other than the Purple Star Sophie Linier’s achievement by having you lead them.”

Ferio said that, as the next king, he would show the world how capable the woman who bears the purple star is.

“At first, I thought about making the Institute of Medical Science, where Lorenzo Forsell is, the base of operation, but there are tons of people going in and out besides Lorenzo’s people, which raised the level of risk. Above all, achieving success there would likely have the achievement granted to Lorenzo Forsell’s name instead of yours. That would be meaningless. Lorenzo is to work under you. Lorenzo is already convinced of this.”

“Once your fame spreads as a person worthy to bear the purple star, we will consider moving the base of operation to the Institute of Medical Science, but this is not the right time,” continued Ferio, which made Sophie’s expression change.

The name “Genius of the Generation” wasn’t something inherited by pedigree. Lorenzo was a real genius. Having such a genius work under someone might be no different than an insult for him.

“Lorenzo Forsell-sama is a person from a marquis family, right? Moreover, he’s known as the ‘Genius of the Generation.’ Did he really agree to that?”

“According to Lorenzo, he doesn’t mind as long as he gets to talk to you. You are the first person that Lorenzo himself referred to as a genius. To be honest, he praised that ‘flower’ so much that it surprised me. Now that I think about it, it is also my first time seeing him be that happy… You can trust him. His standard of value doesn’t lie in status or dignity but in intellect. He loves smart people.”

On the contrary, that’s made it scarier to me…

That plan was something she made using her memory of her previous life. It wasn’t something she newly derived.

Sophie held onto her head as she thought about the fact she wasn’t that much of a genius that the “Genius of the Generation” expected her to be.

“To complete the project, the most important star you need support from would be the silver star, which studies the development of the nation. Since you are the person that even Lorenzo Forsell has approved of, they wouldn’t be ashamed to kneel to you despite the fact you are a woman. Rest assured of that part.”

As Sophie held onto her head, she expressed her disagreement.

“No, just the silver stars won’t be enough. Every star would be involved in this. The medicines, supplies, and land needed for the sewerage planning can’t stay as mere empty theory. The help of a gold star who has the power to oversee such things is necessary. I wanted to use better facilities, and once the project is running properly, we could consider selling the technology to other nations. The power of the gold star, which has rights over the nation’s economy, is absolutely necessary. I also want to talk to copper stars, who are mostly commoners. I want to learn the details of the current situation, especially the state and life of the slums… Well, I guess only black stars are unnecessary for this?”

“Oi… I intended to attach an escort to you, and he’ll be a black star.”

“I don’t need a black star. Aren’t all of them young masters of aristocratic families with viscount pedigree or greater? Although those who are already affiliated with the Holy Knight Brigade would have the ability to know and see the society, those young masters who are still studying at school don’t have that. Even if they might have great swordsmanship, there should be tons of people with a copper star with a similar level of ability. To be honest, copper stars who are trained in situations close to actual combat are more reliable as an escort.”

Indeed, black stars were made up of sons of aristocratic families with a pedigree of viscount or greater, and therefore, they had enormous pride.

Even if they graduated as black stars and only a few of them actually became paladins, since they are fostered as members of the Holy Knight Brigade, which directly reports to the royal family, there would inevitably be many lessons involving court manners. So it was a fact that copper stars were more reliable in actual combat.

“In the first place, things I want for this are geography and precise information. If it’s information that nobles have access to, I can get that on my own. I have nothing I want from them.”

As usual, she isn’t a woman who is affected by things that a normal aristocratic young lady would be happy to get, thought Ferio.

Even though they were still students of “The King’s Sword,” she easily forwent the honor of having a black star, which was supposed to only escort the royal family, and declared such a thing as unnecessary.

However, perhaps it was just natural for her. After all, she was the girl who measured the number of stars on escorts by seeing if they were capable of “spinning” her.

“Since you are still an aristocratic young lady, I’m well aware I’m asking you to suddenly go to a place with only men there, so I’ll make as many concessions as necessary and help you with whatever you might need. However, I’ll decide who’ll be responsible as Sophie’s escort.”

He insisted on that matter.

“I know that having you doing things at ‘The King’s Sword’ is harsh and unsightly as an aristocratic young lady. I’ll explain the manner directly to Baron Linier myself. Also, if you have a fiancé, I’ll go and explain it to him for you as well.”

“Leaving my father aside, I have no fiancé. Did you forget what I told you back then?”

“…I see.”

He looked disappointed for some reason.

It would be one thing if he looked happy since that was one less thing to worry about, but Sophie tilted her head as she didn’t understand why he had such an expression.

Although Sophie had no way of knowing that Ferio felt hurt by the thought that Sophie still hadn’t moved on from Tenma, Sophie summarized their conversation so far.

If I want to refuse, I think I could…

Leaving aside the fact she was entrusted as the chief executive officer of the project, asking an aristocratic young lady to achieve such a thing in place with nothing but men was quite an insane request. She could decline if she wanted to.

Tasuku, what do you want to do?

She asked herself.

The dream was Sophie’s and Tasuku’s.

Although both of them were her, she asked Tasuku as if she was conversing with him.

You didn’t manage to fulfill your dream. If it’s as Sophie, I can take a step forward in that dream. Hey, what would you do?

Would you proceed? Or stop?

Yeah, but since the other party are men, with most being handsome dude, there was no need for Sophie to be considerate and not treat them harshly.

What a cliffhanger!

Well, she’ll obviously accept, since we need to get her to an otome-game like scenario, but I honestly didn’t expect it to be like this.

Anyway, enjoying the reunion with the prince greatly and as always, misunderstandings about Tenma are a joy to read about.

Thank you for the chapter.
