Chapter 223: The Sage Asks for the Great Spirit’s Help

“Sorry to call you so suddenly. I have something to ask you.”

“I will answer it if it is within my right to answer.”

The Great Spirit replied.

I thought my sudden request would be troublesome for her, but that didn’t seem to be the case.

I should obediently accept her goodwill here.

With that in mind, I told her the situation regarding the Savior.

I only told her the main points in chronological order.

That said, it wasn’t really that big of a deal.

The explanations were quickly over.

“A myriad of small acts of kindness are collectively referred to as the Savior. Do you think that this is a phenomenon caused by the Will of the World?”

“That is a possibility. Though the time period is unknown, that Savior would eventually come into being.”

The Great Spirit affirmed.

I also had the same opinion.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t something that could end as needless worry.

It was basically impossible to prevent the activation of the Will of the World.

I could only react after things happened.

“Is there any method to stop it?”

“It’s very difficult to stop it now that it has reached this stage. The existence of the Savior has already taken root in people’s rumors and worship.”

“In other words, I would have to erase every single person who knew such a thing.”

“That is true, but it’s already too late. Regardless of their impression, the riot group already announced the existence of the Savior. It would be impossible to kill all the people who heard of it.”

The Great Spirit was correct.

We couldn’t tell apart the people who knew of the Savior to those who didn’t.

Furthermore, I, the local spy, and Luciana were already aware of the Savior’s existence.

The rumors would have already spread through that city by now.

It was already too late to shut people’s mouths.

If I tried to brute force the solution, I would have to destroy that whole city.

However, that wouldn’t guarantee the prevention of the Savior’s appearance.

Inciting manslaughter in conquered territory would only lead to unnecessary confusion, so it wasn’t a measure that could be used practically.

I asked the Great Spirit for confirmation.

“Is there any other method that could be effective?”

“You could use memory erasure magic to selectively erase memories about the Savior from people’s memories. It would only buy you additional time to prepare for the inevitable, but that should be effective.”

“Okay. I will do that by today.”

Forcefully erasing people’s memories was quite the brute force method.

However, it was much preferable compared to killing.

There would be some confusion caused by the gaps in memory, but it would only last a few days at most.

Once I knew that there wouldn’t be any major problem, it became an acceptable method.

While summarizing the measures I would take in my brain, I glanced at the Great Spirit.

After thinking for a while, I asked.

“Depending on the scale of the situation, I would like to request for your help, is it possible?”

“Of course it is. It is my duty to protect the world.”

“I’m sorry for the trouble, and thank you.”

I couldn’t predict what might happen with the Will of the World involved.

In that respect, having the Great Spirit as an ally was reassuring.

I would understand if she refused since there was no obligation for her to accept it, but she seemed to be motivated.

I guess she was just doing her duty as a defense mechanism.

“I will watch over the situation through Yuura for the time being. Please contact me if something happens.”

“Aah, I understand.”

When I nodded, the Great Spirit disappeared on the spot.

It seemed that she moved to another location at high speed.

If I needed her for something, I intended to talk to her through telepathy.

It might seem weird to treat a defense mechanism as a helper, but there were many unclear points about this particular issue.

I should prepare for the various possibilities until I grasp the full picture.

When I entered the messy audience hall, I used magic to clean things up while thinking.

How will the Savior appear?

Perhaps they would take the form of an individual, awakened herald.

I expected that they would gain some sort of super power and challenge me, the Demon Lord.

However, since there were creatures like the beasts of the outer world, I couldn’t say for sure.

Regardless of what existence they will appear as, I pray that they wouldn’t destroy the well-being of the world.

i feel like the Great Spirit is a lonely girl, all her “friends” (read “other defense mechanism”) only awake in case of emergency , and they deemed themself a automatic machines without emotions and just working for safety of planet. Other living being too frail and too short lived for someone like Great Spirit who will live for eternity. They also have no ideal what is Great Spirit’s purpose is beside just labeled her as a disaster.

Our Skely is the only one who also an immortal, have comparable powers (he is much stronger than entire “defense mechanism” combined now btw) , share somewhat similar goal with her, a nice guy in heart, understand her’s job and most importantly , he is actively doing his job on surface instead of just go “offline” and sleeping like the rest of her “friends” so she can have nice chat with.

Oh, not to mention she basically stalking Skely via Yuura’s pov lol

Of course she will be attracted and respond instantly whenever our Skely needed. Im bet Luciana also know this fact lol
